Our client, a well-established builders merchant, is looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Branch Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong merchant experience looking to progress within a growing company.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 7:00am – 4:00pm finish
  • Saturday: 7:00am – 10:30am (One Saturday on, one Saturday off)

Principle Objectives

  • Provide full support for the Branch Manager and take responsibility for the branch in their absence
  • Deliver knowledgeable, friendly and dependable customer service
  • Help maximise branch sales and profitability
  • Work efficiently as part of the team to exceed customer expectations

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with customers and understand their requirements
  • Identify sales opportunities and provide suitable product advice and solutions
  • Maintain a clean, organised and well-merchandised counter area
  • Ensure all paperwork and sales procedures are completed in line with company policy
  • Liaise with suppliers, other branches and departments when required
  • Support the Branch Manager and wider team to ensure smooth branch operations
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and housekeeping
  • Assist with stock-taking, ordering stock, customer enquiries and other branch duties as required

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a builders merchant is essential
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Strong product knowledge within the building supplies industry
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Organised, reliable and proactive approach
