An education recruitment agency is seeking Learning Support Assistants to work in a specialist primary education setting supporting children aged 5–11 with complex learning needs. This is a highly rewarding role for individuals who are compassionate, patient, and motivated to help children develop communication, confidence, and independence in a structured and nurturing environment.

The Role

  • Supporting pupils in small class groups (8–13 learners)
  • Assisting with early literacy, numeracy, PSHE, and life skills
  • Helping children communicate using signs, symbols, Makaton, or communication aids
  • Providing emotional reassurance and behaviour support during periods of anxiety or dysregulation
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Some pupils may require personal care β€” full training is provided.

Training & Development

  • Fully funded Teaching Assistant apprenticeship qualification
  • Twice-weekly training sessions combining theory and hands-on practice
  • Positive Behaviour Support / Team Teach training included
  • Ongoing mentoring and professional development

Hours & Pay

  • 36 hours per week, term-time only (39 weeks + CPD days)
  • Salary: Β£20,224 – Β£21,032 (pro rata)
  • Paid evenly across 12 months
