Role Overview

In this position, the Tekla Design Detailer with QA experience will be responsible for creating precise 3D models and detailed drawings using Tekla Structures, while ensuring all designs meet rigorous quality standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure smooth project execution and prevent issues on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures.
  • Interpret and analyze architectural, structural, and engineering drawings to produce accurate fabrication and shop drawings.
  • Implement QA procedures to validate designs, ensuring they comply with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Perform thorough checks and reviews of drawing dimensions, material specifications, and connection details to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to identify and resolve design discrepancies before production begins.
  • Support project coordination to ensure design packages are delivered on time and meet project requirements.
  • Document and track design revisions to maintain up-to-date records for all project stages.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements within the design and QA workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Solid experience as a Tekla Design Detailer, or in a similar role within structural steel, construction, or a related industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures, including 3D modeling, detailing, and drawing production.
  • Strong background in Quality Assurance within the design or construction sector.
  • In-depth understanding of industry codes and standards (e. g., AISC, Eurocodes, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify and correct potential issues early.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant design software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tekla Structures certification or other relevant training.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication processes and QA best practices.
  • Knowledge of additional industry standards and codes is a plus.
