Transport Planner – Late Shift
Location: Dunstable
Hours: Monday–Friday, 13pm–22pm
Interaction Recruitment are working with our client to recruit a proactive and experienced Transport Planner to oversee daily vehicle planning and lead a dynamic team of drivers. This role is key to ensuring smooth logistics operations and excellent customer service.
We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner that can fit in with the team and assist the team to plan 50 + vehicles and trailers in the day to day running of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily vehicle routing across all fleet types (Class 1, Class 2, 7.5T, and vans)
- Monitor driver hours and ensure compliance with transport regulations
- Conduct daily driver briefings and debriefings
- Communicate with customers to schedule and confirm bookings
- Manage incoming calls and emails throughout the shift
- Act as the main point of contact for drivers, providing job instructions and updates
- Review and report vehicle defect checks to the workshop team
- Resolve transport-related issues and delays promptly
- Optimise vehicle utilisation to maximise efficiency and return per truck
- Prepare driver run sheets for the following day\’s operations
What You\’ll Need to Succeed:
- Proven experience in transport planning with strong knowledge of UK geography and logistics
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Quick-thinking and confident decision-maker under pressure
- Reliable and adaptable to meet changing business needs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with IT systems
- Self-driven with a collaborative mindset
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively
