Technician – Safety Product Testing
Kettering, Northamptonshire
Up to £26,000 per annum
Full Time | 37.5 Hours per Week
Interaction Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading independent testing, inspection and certification organisation for a Technician to join their Safety Product Testing team in Kettering. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation at the forefront of product testing and certification, working with a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used across multiple industries worldwide.
The Role
Working within the Safety Product Testing department, you will primarily support the motorcycle garment testing area, carrying out testing on jackets, trousers, race suits, gloves and impact protectors. Over time, you will also gain exposure to other PPE testing disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine physical testing of PPE in accordance with European and International standards
- Operating specialist test equipment and accurately recording results
- Preparing samples for testing
- Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and organisation
- Managing sample storage and handling
- Supporting Technologists during customer visits
- Assisting with testing activities both on-site and occasionally at customer facilities
Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in product testing and laboratory environments.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements
- GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above in Maths, English and Science
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational and time management abilities
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A reliable, motivated and enthusiastic approach to work
- The ability to remain focused whilst carrying out repetitive testing tasks
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous laboratory experience
- Experience working with PPE products
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and advanced Excel functions
- Understanding of quality management systems
- A willingness to learn, develop and adapt within a technical environment
