We are currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician (Electrical Bias) to join our Sunderland site. The purpose of this role is to ensure that process, plant, and building maintenance is carried out to the highest standard, supporting our goal of zero business interruption. Reporting to the Plant Engineer (PU Manager), you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, delivery, and uptime across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety & Environment
    • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and statutory requirements.
    • Maintain plant and processes in safe working order at all times.
    • Identify, report, and rectify risks and hazards promptly.
    • Carry out risk assessments and ensure excellent housekeeping standards.
    • Ensure correct waste disposal and COSHH compliance.
    • Carry out electrical work within authorised limits and current regulations.
  • Quality
    • Ensure robust processes and optimised set-ups to reduce scrap and non‑conforming product.
    • Actively participate in practical problem‑solving for plant and process issues.
  • Delivery
    • Achieve and maintain plant and process uptime targets.
    • Communicate planned maintenance with the PU Manager and Process Leaders.
    • Support stock accuracy activities, including stock takes.
  • People
    • Build strong working relationships with production and process teams.
    • Promote and coach TPM, clean‑and‑check activities across the business.
    • Manage contractors, including inductions, permits, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Process
    • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance to schedule.
    • Maintain and effectively use maintenance systems (e.g. Miquest).
    • Monitor uptime, downtime, and capacity to drive continuous improvement.
    • Research best‑in‑class practices and innovations to improve performance and reduce environmental impact.
    • Support ad hoc production or project activities as required.
  • Cost
    • Lead improvement initiatives to eliminate waste.
    • Monitor subcontracted work for quality and value.
    • Control spare parts and consumable usage efficiently.
    • Ensure all expenditure follows company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification: HNC / HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical bias preferred).
  • Experience: Relevant maintenance experience, ideally within an automotive supply or manufacturing environment. Time‑served apprenticeship.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: £38,984 per annum
  • Shift Allowance (12%): £4,678 per annum
  • Attendance Allowance: £300 per annum
  • Christmas Voucher: £60
  • Pension: Like‑for‑like scheme, up to 7% employer contribution
  • Private Medical: Bupa healthcare cover

Shift Pattern

  • Morning Shift: Monday–Thursday: 07:00 – 15:18, Friday: 07:00 – 14:53
  • Late Shift: Monday–Thursday: 16:20 – 00:38, Friday: 14:55 – 22:48
