My client is a well-established care home in Reigate, providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for its residents. They are looking for a reliable and caring Kitchen Assistant to join their team on an ongoing temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in maintaining high standards of food service, cleanliness and resident care.
The Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen and care home team with the day-to-day provision of meals and refreshments for residents. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of meals and refreshments
- Supporting the kitchen team during breakfast, lunch and evening meal services
- Preparing dining areas and ensuring residents receive meals in a timely manner
- Washing and cleaning crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and dining areas
- Following food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times
- Assisting with stock rotation and putting away deliveries where required
- Helping to keep the kitchen organised and running efficiently
- Providing a friendly and respectful service to residents
- Working closely with care and kitchen colleagues to meet residents' individual needs
About You
We are looking for someone who is dependable, approachable and has a genuine interest in working within a care environment. Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, hospitality or care home setting is essential. You will need:
- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or food service environment
- Good awareness of food hygiene and safe working practices
- A reliable and flexible approach to work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A friendly and patient manner when interacting with residents
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the DBS Update Service – this is essential for the role
