We are currently recruiting on behalf of a successful and welcoming secondary school academy in Crawley for an experienced HR Assistant to join their busy administration team on a temporary basis with an immediate start (during the summer holidays!)
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous school HR or general HR administration experience who is confident supporting recruitment, maintaining employee records, and assisting with day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced educational environment.
The Role
As the HR Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the school's HR function, ensuring efficient administration and compliance with safer recruitment procedures.
- Providing day-to-day administrative support to the HR department.
- Assisting with recruitment, onboarding and pre-employment checks.
- Processing staff contracts, offer letters and employment documentation.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR databases.
- Supporting DBS applications and monitoring safeguarding compliance.
- Assisting with absence monitoring and staff personnel files.
- Responding to HR queries from staff in a professional and confidential manner.
- Supporting payroll administration by preparing HR documentation where required.
- Ensuring HR procedures comply with employment legislation, school policies and safer recruitment guidelines.
- Providing general administrative support to the wider school office when required.
- The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has
- Previous experience working as an HR Assistant, HR Administrator or within a school HR department.
- Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience handling confidential information professionally.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience using HR or school management systems would be advantageous.
- The ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
- A professional, approachable and organised manner.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
