Our client is seeking a highly skilled Injection Moulding Tool Maintenance Technician to join a dynamic plastics manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on, technically focused role responsible for maintaining and optimising injection mould tools to ensure safe operation, exceptional product quality, and maximum production efficiency. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting production reliability by ensuring mould tooling is maintained to the highest standard and by quickly resolving tooling-related issues that could impact performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on injection mould tools to ensure reliability and performance
- Strip, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble mould tools to exacting standards
- Diagnose and resolve tooling-related production issues to minimise downtime
- Support tool changeovers and ensure tooling is production-ready
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within the site maintenance system
- Work in strict accordance with safe systems of work (SSOW) and established site procedures
- Identify opportunities for tooling improvements that enhance performance and longevity
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in injection mould tool maintenance or toolmaking support
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a deep understanding of mould tool construction and function
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- A proactive, problem-solving approach with a focus on quality and efficiency
Desirable
- Formal qualification in toolmaking, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience working with glass-filled polymers or other high-wear materials
- Knowledge of tooling improvements and preventative maintenance strategies
