School Chef – Day Shifts | Temporary to Permanent / Permanent Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire Job Type: Full-Time | Ongoing Temporary to Permanent / Permanent Working Hours: Day Shifts Start Date: Immediate Start Available Job Description Interaction Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified School Chef to join the catering team at a school in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Chef looking for a stable, long-term position with daytime working hours. The position is initially offered on an ongoing temporary-to-permanent basis, with the possibility of securing a permanent contract from day one, depending on experience and suitability. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for pupils and staff. Ensure meals are prepared to a consistently high standard. Assist with menu planning and food preparation. Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety. Follow food safety regulations, including HACCP procedures. Manage food stock, portion control and minimise waste. Cater for dietary requirements, allergies and special dietary needs. Work effectively as part of the school catering team. Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and safely at all times. Essential Requirements Previous professional experience working as a Chef, ideally within a school, education, healthcare or contract catering environment. NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Professional Cookery or Catering (essential). Good knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety regulations. Experience preparing meals in a high-volume catering environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
