An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Operator to join a dynamic and friendly team. This role is essential in managing vehicle utilisation and ensuring drivers receive clear, accurate instructions while maintaining compliance with service levels, driver hours, and Health & Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate the effective use of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors, and agencies.
- Ensure driver compliance with safety standards and legal driving hours.
- Collaborate with the retail department to optimise fleet and driver usage.
- Manage equipment control to meet customer requirements.
- Investigate accidents and driver performance issues.
- Support compliance efforts, including timely data downloads and vehicle legality.
- Assist drivers with breakdowns and callouts.
- Communicate delivery delays to customers via appropriate channels.
- Ensure ASN compliance and accurate load matching.
- Complete documentation for accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Monitor driver activity using ISOTRAK / Microlise systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- CPC National/International qualification (desirable).
- Experience in a transport or distribution environment.
- Ability to manage workload in a high-pressure setting.
- Strong understanding of vehicle planning and geographical knowledge.
- Familiarity with driver hours regulations and tachograph law.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.
