Interaction Recruitment are working with an independent school based in Buckinghamshire. We are looking for a strong Sous Chef for a full-time contract, 52 weeks per year.
Location: Buckinghamshire
Salary: £40,000 per annum + benefits
Hours: 45 hours per week, overtime paid
Shift Pattern: AM shifts 06:30 – 15:00 or 11:00 – 19:30, working up to 25 weekends per year
Overview: The school is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality catering services for students, staff, and visitors. The role involves day-to-day kitchen leadership, high volume cooking from fresh ingredients, feeding up to 1200 pupils daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and support the Exec Chef & Head Chef in managing the kitchen and catering team.
- Maintain high standards of food preparation, hygiene, and presentation.
- Train kitchen staff in new menus, recipes, and health and safety compliance.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- NVQ Level 1&2 or City & Guilds 7061/2 in professional cookery.
- Food Hygiene Certificate Level 3 or equivalent.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as CDP or Sous chef, ideally from a high volume cooking background.
Desirable:
- Experience with catering for large groups or boarding schools.
- Supervisory experience in educational catering settings.
