As a Support Worker, you will provide hands-on care while helping to create positive and memorable experiences for children and young people. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Safeguarding: Promoting safety, protection, and wellbeing tailored to individual needs.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Supporting with eating, drinking, medication administration, and specialist care needs such as epilepsy management.
  • Mobility: Assisting with mobility equipment, powered wheelchairs, and daily movement support.
  • Personal Care: Delivering personal and intimate care while maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
  • Activities and Community Engagement: Encouraging participation in enjoyable activities, outings, hydrotherapy, swimming, and community experiences.

What We Are Looking For:

You will be well suited to this role if you have:

  • Experience of supporting individuals with physical disabilities and complex needs.
  • Empathy, patience, and a positive approach to inclusion and diversity.
  • Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for helping young people engage in activities and daily life.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, public holidays, and occasional night cover where required.

Care and Wellbeing Support:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to provide personalised support to children and young adults, following all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Deliver care and guidance in line with each individual’s Person-Centred Plan, health action plans, and risk assessments.
  • Use and continuously develop a range of communication methods to ensure children and young adults are listened to, understood, and empowered.
  • Provide all aspects of personal care, always maintaining privacy, dignity, and respect.
  • Support children and young adults with their health and social care needs, including epilepsy management, suction, and oxygen therapy, following training and competency sign-off.
  • Encourage participation in leisure activities, including hydrotherapy, swimming, and the use of electronic aids and communication devices where required.
  • Maintain consistency of care across residential services, working closely with colleagues to ensure high standards and continuity.
  • Support children in achieving their educational goals by working alongside school staff where appropriate.

Compliance and Quality Standards:

  • Follow all CQC/Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and health and safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate care records and respond appropriately to feedback provided by senior team members.
  • Ensure personal belongings, aids, and finances are handled respectfully and in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Ensure all personal equipment and support aids are well maintained, safe to use, and available when needed.

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Accompany and support children and young adults with community activities, social outings, medical appointments, and hospital stays where required.
  • Work flexibly across shift patterns including early shifts, late shifts, weekends.
