We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Finance Manager/Accountant to join our clients growing business. This is a key role within the company, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting, payroll management, and supplier payments. The successful candidate will be hands‑on, commercially aware, and confident managing multiple accounting functions while supporting the wider management team with timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Producing financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections
- Monitoring financial performance and reporting to senior management
- Overseeing the Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger departments
- Managing supplier payments and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Ensuring accurate reconciliation of bank accounts and ledgers
- Full responsibility for payroll processing and control
- Managing BACS payments to employees and suppliers
- Handling payroll-related matters including:
- PAYE and National Insurance
- Pension contributions
- Deduction of Earnings Orders
- Statutory payments and compliance
- Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and HMRC where required
- Maintaining financial controls and ensuring compliance with company procedures
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar Senior Finance role
- Strong knowledge of management accounting and forecasting
- Experience overseeing purchase and sales ledger functions
- Confident managing payroll processes end-to-end
- Knowledge of BACS payment systems and payroll compliance
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Proficient in accounting and payroll software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification
- Experience within an SME environment
- Knowledge of employment and payroll legislation
