Interaction Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation. We have a full-time vacancy for a Technician to work in a Safety Product Testing department.

About The Department

The Safety Product Testing team conducts testing on a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a global customer base, ensuring products meet a minimum level of protection. PPE tested includes gloves, fall protection equipment, motorcycle garments, high visibility clothing, eyewear, helmets, hearing protection, chainsaw garments, kneepads, sports protection and more. The department consists of accredited laboratories equipped with specialist test equipment and machinery used to assess the physical properties of PPE against International and European standards. Test results are reported to customers and used for product development or to support CE and UKCA certification. The team is made up of approximately 25 multi-skilled technicians, technologists and support staff.

About The Role

This Technician role is primarily focused on Fall Protection PPE and will involve testing items such as harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, connectors and rescue equipment. Testing is carried out both indoors and outdoors throughout the year, and some activities are performed at height (up to 8 metres).

As a Technician, you will be required to:

  • Use test equipment and machines to generate accurate results
  • Record and calculate test results electronically and on paper for reporting
  • Prepare test samples prior to testing
  • Read, learn and understand international PPE testing standards
  • Maintain laboratory tidiness and manage sample storage
  • Support technologists during customer visits, seminars and site tours when required

Full training will be provided where needed.

About You

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Science (minimum grade C or above)
  • Highly organised, enthusiastic and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to accurately follow testing procedures and methods
  • Strong time management skills with a flexible approach to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Keen eye for detail and methodical approach to electronic data entry and paperwork

Desirable

  • Experience working at height / using fall protection PPE
  • Experience in industrial roofing
  • Forklift truck experience
