We are working with a welcoming secondary school in Downe, Kent seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of English – 2iC to join their successful department. Role Overview:

  • Teach English across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Support the Head of English in leading and developing the department
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote a love of reading, writing, and literature
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and departmental initiatives
  • Support colleagues through collaboration, coaching, and sharing best practice
  • Encourage participation in extracurricular English activities and enrichment opportunities
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment

About You:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Ability to support departmental leadership and drive high standards of teaching and learning
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Passionate about high-quality teaching and student achievement
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
