CNC Laser Operator Assistant – Full-Time, Permanent Pay: £30,000 – £35,000 per year Location: Washington, NE37 1QP Schedule: Day shift, Night shift, Overtime, Rotating shifts Overview A growing and dynamic subcontract laser cutting and CNC folding company is seeking a CNC Laser Operator Assistant to join their quality-focused team. This role is ideal for someone looking to work in a fast-paced production environment, with opportunities to develop their skills and grow within the business. Full training will be provided for the right candidate. Role Responsibilities The primary focus of this role is to assist the lead operator on a Bystronic 10kw Bystar Fibre laser and ensure daily schedules are met in a lean production environment. Main Duties: Organise job progression through the factory, ensuring parts are accurately batched and quality-checked. Follow company policies by rejecting non-conforming parts and ensuring parts are correctly marked and stored. Package completed jobs for delivery and work with production to meet deadlines. Manage incoming materials, offload deliveries, and mark goods appropriately. Maintain accurate records, ensuring paperwork is completed and filed. Assist in basic laser operations and maintenance, as well as learning CNC press brake operations. Operate machinery to cover staff holidays, sickness, or breaks. Keep the shop floor clean and organised for shift handovers. Operate forklift and use hand tools to deburr parts as needed. Key Skills Required: Positive and hardworking attitude. Ability to interpret and follow production cards. Physically capable of working in a demanding environment. Safe and effective forklift operation. Desirable Skills (Non-Essential): Experience operating CNC laser equipment (training provided if necessary). Pay and Benefits: Day shift rate: £12.80 per hour. Night shift rate: £15.36 per hour. Overtime: £19.20 (day shift) and £23.04 (night shift). 31 days of annual holiday (including bank holidays). Holiday loyalty scheme – gain up to 5 additional days of holiday based on years of service. Free staff meals every Thursday (e.g., Nando’s). Yearly bonus. Shift Patterns (2-week rotation): Day Shift: 06:00 AM to 14:00 PM or 06:00 AM to 16:00 PM (Monday to Friday). Night Shift: 14:00 PM to 12:00 AM or 16:00 PM to 02:00 AM (Monday to Thursday).
