We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our busy team in Taunton. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and assembling a wide range of special-purpose machinery in line with engineering drawings and quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on assembly experience and confidence using a variety of hand and power tools. The Mechanical Fitter will play a key role in ensuring all products meet stringent quality and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble mechanical components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Build small sub-assemblies through to larger mechanical sections
- Fit bearings, taper-lock pulleys, gears and associated components
- Install and run pneumatic and hydraulic pipework
- Carry out quality checks to ensure all work meets required standards
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to optimise build processes and resolve assembly issues
- Fully time-served Mechanical Fitter/Engineer
- Mechanical engineering qualification (essential)
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools
- Experience using machine tools (advantageous)
- Strong mechanical understanding with the ability to interpret technical drawings
- Experience working with pneumatics and hydraulics
- Fabrication experience (advantageous)
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to set a positive example and support team members
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
