We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join our team as a Field Service Engineer, covering Devon and Cornwall. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working on the road and has experience installing, maintaining and repairing machinery within manufacturing and food manufacturing environments.
The Role
- Travel to customer sites across Devon and Cornwall, including food factories and manufacturing facilities.
- Carry out a range of mechanical engineering duties, including:
- Installing and commissioning machinery and equipment.
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
- Planned and reactive maintenance.
- Servicing and maintaining manufacturing machinery.
- Working within food manufacturing environments.
- Working directly with customers on site.
- Ensuring machinery is operating safely and efficiently.
Food Safety Requirement
As the role involves working inside food manufacturing facilities, candidates will need to hold a Level 2 Food Safety / Food Hygiene Certificate. Don't have one? No problem — full training will be provided. The course is approximately 3 hours and will be provided to ensure you are fully qualified to work safely within food production environments.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Field Service Engineer or similar.
- Experience working with machinery in a manufacturing, production or food manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Experience with machinery installation and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Own tools required.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout Devon and Cornwall.
- Level 2 Food Safety/Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to complete the training provided.
