We are currently recruiting for an IT Workshop Technician to join a well-established and leading IT services provider. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys diagnosing faults, repairing equipment and working hands-on with technology. The role is initially offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.
The Role
As an IT Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for fault finding, repairing and testing a variety of IT equipment. This will include laptops, PCs, printers and point-of-sale systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out hardware repairs
- Repairing and testing laptops, PCs, desktops and workstations
- Working with printers and point-of-sale equipment
- Carrying out break-fix repairs and identifying root causes
- Testing equipment to ensure it meets the required quality standards
- Following workshop procedures and health & safety/ESD requirements
- Accurately completing paperwork and updating internal systems
- Managing your own workload and prioritising repairs effectively
- Working to deadlines and agreed service levels
- Liaising with senior engineers regarding priorities and workloads
- Supporting colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and best practice
- Keeping your technical knowledge up to date as technology develops
- Identifying opportunities to improve workshop efficiency and productivity
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has genuine hands-on hardware repair experience and is confident troubleshooting a range of IT equipment. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in an IT workshop environment - essential
- Experience repairing and fault-finding PCs, laptops and printers
- Previous hardware break-fix experience
- Experience working with point-of-sale/till equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to work effectively in a busy, high-volume environment
- A proactive, "can-do" approach to problem solving
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A willingness to learn new technologies and develop your skills
