Job Description

Interaction Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified School Chef to join the catering team at a school in Peterborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Chef looking for a stable, long-term position with daytime working hours.

The position is initially offered on an ongoing temporary-to-permanent basis, with the possibility of securing a permanent contract from day one, depending on experience and suitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for pupils and staff.

• Ensure meals are prepared to a consistently high standard.

• Assist with menu planning and food preparation.

• Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.

• Follow food safety regulations, including HACCP procedures.

• Manage food stock, portion control and minimise waste.

• Cater for dietary requirements, allergies and special dietary needs.

• Work effectively as part of the school catering team.

• Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and safely at all times.

Essential Requirements

• Previous professional experience working as a Chef, ideally within a school, education, healthcare or contract catering environment.

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Professional Cookery or Catering (essential).

• Good knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety regulations.

• Experience preparing meals in a high-volume catering environment.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

• Reliable, professional and committed to maintaining high standards.

• An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this position.
