Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Milton Keynes, MK
Salary: £35,000-£40,000 pro rata, depending on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00
Contract: 6 Months, with possible extension
Working: Hybrid / Remote considered

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business in Milton Keynes, working on the design and development of bespoke industrial X-ray systems, enclosures and multi-axis manipulators.
This is a great opportunity for a practical design engineer who enjoys working across projects and collaborating with production, electrical and installation teams.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Designing and producing detailed drawings for mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Using SolidWorks 3D CAD to develop and modify designs.
- Working closely with electrical designers and other engineering teams.
- Supporting Project, Production and Installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Helping deliver high-quality designs that meet customer and project requirements.
About You
We’re looking for someone with solid practical experience in engineering design and project work.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong mechanical engineering design experience.
- Excellent 3D CAD skills, particularly SolidWorks.
- Good knowledge of engineering drawings and assemblies.
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
Desirable: Experience within NDT/X-ray, automation, software or electrical engineering environments.
