The Role:
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles. Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults efficiently. Conduct vehicle inspections, defect reporting and preventative maintenance activities. Strip, inspect and rebuild vehicle components including engines, gearboxes, axles, suspensions and braking systems. Perform testing and fault-finding to ensure vehicles meet DVSA and company compliance standards. Complete repair and maintenance work to manufacturer specifications. Attend breakdowns and provide roadside assistance as part of a rota system. Undertake mobile maintenance and repair work at customer sites on a rota basis. Accurately complete job cards, service sheets and maintenance documentation.
The Requirements: Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or PSV Technician (essential). Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent (essential). Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills on commercial vehicles. Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs on HGV fleets. Ability to strip and rebuild major vehicle components.
Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems. Full UK driving licence (essential). HGV Licence (desirable but not essential). Ability to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team. Flexible and proactive attitude towards breakdown, call-out and mobile repair work.
