Interaction Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established client for an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter based in Knowsley. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and growing operation maintaining a range of heavy plant and wash plant machinery within a fast-paced industrial environment.
Working Hours
- 47.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday: 07:00 β 17:00
- Saturdays: 07:00 β 12:00 when required
- Additional overtime available for maintenance and emergency repairs

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, servicing, and reactive repairs on a variety of heavy plant machinery and wash plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation across the site. This is a hands-on role involving both workshop and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on excavators, loading shovels, crushers, screeners, and wash plant equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
- Inspect and maintain aggregate wash plant systems
- Monitor plant performance and maintain operational efficiency
- Complete service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation accurately
- Work closely with plant operators, supervisors, and management
- Maintain high standards of health & safety at all times
- Ensure workshop cleanliness and organisation
- Assist with stock control and ordering of spare parts
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter or similar role
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience working on heavy plant machinery in an industrial environment
- Previous wash plant maintenance experience highly desirable
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures
- Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting
- Reliable, motivated, and able to work independently or within a team
- Flexible approach to overtime and weekend work
- Able to commute to the Knowsley area
