Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Datacentre Engineer to join our Logistics & Technology Services team, supporting from our Hatfield Integration Centre. This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on the customisation, deployment, and installation of enterprise server and networking equipment within high-performance datacentre environments. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical and technical background, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently. Working closely with operational, consultancy, and infrastructure teams, you will play a key role in delivering critical customer deployments to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rack and stack servers, network switches, routers, and other enterprise hardware.
  • Install power and data cabling within server and networking racks.
  • Read and follow rack elevation diagrams and patching schedules/cut sheets.
  • Support remote network and systems administrators by carrying out on-site installation activities.
  • Install, route, and test fibre optic cabling.
  • Apply basic IP addressing under instruction.
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of UPS systems (desirable).
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, project management, and infrastructure teams to deliver projects on time.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, industry standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Ensure work is completed to agreed service levels (SLAs) and quality standards.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous hands-on experience working within a datacentre environment.
  • Good understanding of structured cabling solutions.
  • Experience installing and testing fibre optic cabling.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Comfortable performing physical, hands-on technical work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and SLAs.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in high-performance computing (HPC) or hyperscale datacentres.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), remote monitoring tools, or facility controls.
  • Experience installing or configuring UPS systems.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent health and safety qualification (preferred but not essential).
