Our client based in Kettering has a new opportunity for a Technical Lead within their Footwear department. The Technical Lead will lead and supervise a team of technologists and technicians in the Footwear Testing team ensuring compliance with quality standards, enhancing the client's brand and reputation.
As a Technical Lead your key responsibilities will include:
- Daily supervision of Technicians
- Team performance management (appraisals, disciplinary and grievance matters)
- Managing workflow through department with emphasis on customer focus and customer awareness
- Working with Technicians to establish deadlines and allocate jobs fairly
- Ensure effective implementation of quality systems (working with Quality Manager and Health and Safety Advisor)
- Create and implement staff training plans
- Development of continuous improvement initiatives with both systems of work and individuals
- Establish and monitor department's KPIs
- Discussing results and new work with customers
- Routine drafting/sending reports and responding to customer emails
- Meeting customers and presenting seminars
- Contributing to writing of technical articles for internal and external publication
- Overseas travel when required
About You
Essential:
- Educated to A Level in Maths or Science
- Familiar with physical testing techniques
- Demonstrated organisation and planning skills
- Supervisory experience
- Customer facing experience
- Confident presenter
- Excellent time management and scheduling skills
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work on own and as part of a team
- Highly motivated
- Problem solving and logical thinking
- Willingness to travel
Desirable:
- Completion of SAFT course or working towards completion
- Degree in Maths or Science
- Experience within a commercial environment
- Full, clean driving licence
- Experience of direct Sales and Marketing with exposure to business development tools and techniques
- Footwear industry experience
