Main purpose of the role

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels within our warehouses, receiving and processing incoming stock, conducting quality control checks, organizing stock locations, and ensuring proper labelling and documentation. Sporadically, the role may include supporting other departments, such as picking and packing. This role is vital to the smooth operation of our supply chain and warehouse efficiency.

GENERAL

  • Receiving & Processing Stock:
    • Unload, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders by checking for damaged or missing items.
    • Sort and place materials or items on pallets, racks, shelves or bins according to their allocated location.
    • Accurately record stock quantities and communicate with Goods In Coordinator and/or Purchasing department regarding discrepancies or damaged goods.
  • Quality Control:
    • Conduct visual and physical inspections of goods to ensure compliance with quality standards.
    • Report and document defects, damages, or inconsistencies.
    • Collaborate with other departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Stock Location & Organisation:
    • Allocate and organize stock in designated warehouse locations.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly storage environment to optimize space and accessibility.
    • Implement and follow stock rotation procedures - FIFO.
  • Labelling & Documentation:
    • Ensure all items are correctly labelled with product codes, descriptions, QR codes, and dates of delivery.
    • Maintain accurate records of stock movements and adjustments.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Conduct periodic stock audits and cycle counts.
    • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or excesses.
    • Assist in forecasting and replenishment planning.
    • Use Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track and manage inventory.
  • Overall standards:
    • Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment, including reporting incidents, accidents, near misses and any potential hazards.
    • Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklift trucks, pallet trucks, ladders, picking trolleys, etc., following appropriate training and certification.
    • Keep the warehouse organised and tidy to facilitate efficient stock location and a safe working environment.
    • Consistently wear any required safety gear, such as high-visibility vest, safety shoes, and gloves when required.
    • Safely unload/load pallets, packages, boxes etc.

Major Challenges

The major challenges of this role will be the physical hardship, safety concerns, operational and technological pressures as well as mental resilience. The initial challenge of this role will be to become familiar with the Company’s wide range of products (full training provided).

Person Specification

  • Education and Qualifications:
    • GCSE or equivalent Maths and English to Grade C/L4 or above.
    • This is an extremely physical job, and an appropriate level of fitness will be required to complete the daily tasks across 3 warehouses.
    • Current Counterbalance certificate.
    • Current and Full Driving License.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Competent administrative skills.
    • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, WMS).
    • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects.
    • Keen to learn, willing to ask questions and to quickly absorb new information.
    • Conscientious and motivated to support other members of the team.
    • An excellent team player - able to get on with colleagues in all teams.
    • Able to work under pressure in a busy environment.
    • Reliable and diligent.
    • Resilient and adaptable.
    • Access to own transport would be an advantage due to the office location.
