My client based on the outskirts of St Ives Cambridgeshire are currently recruiting for a Surface Mount Assembly Operative on a full time Permanent basis.
- Salary: £25-26,000 DOE – not including OT and shift (preferred flexibility and able to consider shift hours (lates).
- Working Hours: Dayshift 8:00 to 4:15pm Monday -Thursday, and until 2pm Fridays, all breaks paid.
- Shifts preferable, employees able and willing to work shifts and OT when required. Shifts generally lates e.g. 2pm – 11pm x 4 or similar.
Job Purpose:
Carry out machine SMT assembly efficiently and to the highest standard. This is a key position in the surface mount team ensuring products are manufactured to IPC610 and customer specifications, and at the same time maintaining the highest quality of workmanship. This position reports to Production Supervision and working with Engineering team and other members of staff as required. Achieve production demands as detailed on the production schedule and to keep Supervision informed of any issues that may have an impact on the delivery date of products to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate automated SMT assembly equipment including pick and place machine, screen printer, glue dispensing machine and reflow oven.
- Also hand place SMT components if required.
- Loading of programs on each machine for the product to be assembled.
- Prepare kits for the manufacturing process including feeder programming.
- Perform visual inspection of SMT assemblies.
- Clean misprinted boards.
- Maintain accurate job tracking records.
- Interpret IPC-A-610 standards for acceptability and customer requirements.
- Ability to use hand tools to a required standard.
- Maintain a tidy and clean organised work area including machines responsible for.
- Responsible for the quality, quantity and inspection of work performed.
- Practice safe work habits and report any unsafe conditions to Supervision.
- Train co-workers and assist when any problems may arise.
- Assist engineering in resolving any build related issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Key skills:
- Preferred: Min 2 years in similar role, and have a general knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes, experience handling of PCB and SMT components.
- Ability to read and understand customer bills of material, drawings and build packs.
- Attention to detail, ability to work with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate to co-workers.
- Understand basic filing systems.
- Ability to work to schedules and deadlines.
- Good team player.
- Computer literacy.
- Exceptional housekeeping.
