An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Procurement to join a leading business in the vehicle conversions industry. This senior role will involve taking charge of the procurement function, driving the sourcing of quality materials and services while ensuring cost efficiency. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's expansion, cost-saving initiatives, and supplier relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Strategy & Sourcing: Formulate and execute procurement strategies in line with the company’s overall objectives. Source and evaluate suppliers, both UK-based and international, to meet the required quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Supplier Relations & Contract Negotiations: Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers. Regularly assess supplier performance and implement strategies for improvement. Lead negotiations for contracts, pricing, and terms to secure optimal agreements.
- Cost Efficiency & Savings: Champion initiatives to reduce costs while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and supply chain reliability. Track market trends and perform cost analysis to uncover new opportunities for savings.
- Team Leadership & Development: Oversee and guide a small procurement team, ensuring high performance and professional growth. Foster a supportive, collaborative environment within the team to promote continuous improvement.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure procurement activities adhere to all company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards. Identify risks within the supply chain and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate with teams such as engineering and production to ensure smooth procurement processes for new product development and project-related sourcing. Ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials needed for key projects.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industries.
- Proven ability in strategic sourcing, cost management, and supplier negotiations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a small team.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of liaising with all levels of the business.
