Our client is a long-established manufacturer based in the Taunton area and we are recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their team working a double day shift Monday to Friday with a lunchtime finish on Friday.
The Opportunity
As part of the operations leadership team, you will help lead and work alongside the small team to maintain the performance and reliability of the equipment used to produce their products. This role is vital to keeping production running smoothly and ensuring our high technical standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the electrical maintenance engineering team, ensuring high standards of workmanship and performance.
- Oversee and coordinate planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities across electrical systems, production machinery, and site infrastructure.
- Prioritise and allocate reactive maintenance tasks to minimise production downtime.
- Support the installation, commissioning, optimisation, and integration of new manufacturing equipment within their vertically integrated production facility.
- Ensure compliance with electrical legislation, health & safety standards, and internal engineering procedures.
- Monitor and report on maintenance performance, reliability data, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when required.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe working practices at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Time-served Electrical Engineer with NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong experience in industrial electrical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
- Excellent fault-finding ability across motors, sensors, drives, control panels, and automated systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload in a dynamic environment.
- Good understanding of health & safety standards and electrical compliance.
