Overview: We’re seeking a Senior Tester to join the team delivering the Standard Media Player (SMP) across iOS, Android, and Web. This is a key role covering parental leave, working in an Agile/Kanban environment focussed on testing at the player level—via bespoke test harnesses rather than user-facing apps (e.g. iPlayer, Sounds). You’ll collaborate closely with developers, participate in mob sessions, and champion quality across the team by identifying risks early, improving test reliability, and supporting continuous improvement.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong communicator and proactive team player - curious, vocal, and collaborative.
- Confident testing across iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS.
- Experienced in release test planning and coordination.
- Hands-on technical understanding of code (Swift, Kotlin, Java, Objective-C).
- Skilled in diagnosing test failures and mentoring others.
- Advocates for Quality Engineering and Shift-Left practices.
- Experience with A/V playback technologies, DASH, HLS.
Team Culture: The team meets weekly in White City and collaborates closely with colleagues across Salford office. You’ll have regular opportunities to influence technical decisions and help developers implement effective unit testing.
