Help shape the future of immersive sports with a clear pathway to grow into Head of Data Engineering as the platform and team scale. We're looking for a Lead Data Engineer to build and scale the platform powering a next‑generation immersive sports experience. This is a hands‑on role with real ownership, where you'll lead backend architecture, cloud infrastructure and platform reliability while helping define the future of our technology. We're looking for someone who is also an AI enabler—an engineer who champions AI across the business, embeds intelligent automation into products and workflows, and uses modern AI tools to accelerate engineering and innovation.

What you'll do:

  • Design and build scalable backend services in Python (FastAPI or similar).
  • Own cloud infrastructure across AWS (GCP experience a bonus).
  • Build secure APIs, event‑driven systems and low‑latency services.
  • Deliver resilient platforms capable of handling high‑volume, real‑time traffic.
  • Champion AI adoption by integrating LLMs, AI services and automation into products and engineering workflows.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and work closely with product, data and client teams.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience building and operating production backend systems at scale.
  • Strong Python, Postgres, API design and AWS expertise.
  • Experience with Redis, CI/CD and cloud‑native architectures.
  • A genuine AI advocate with experience using AI to improve developer productivity, automate workflows and deliver smarter products.
  • Pragmatic, collaborative and excited by building from the ground up.
