ICYE UK is part of a federation of ICYE organisations in over 30 countries that promote intercultural exchange and understanding between young people through voluntary placements overseas, including social and environmental projects in South America, Africa and Asia. ICYE UK hosts around 50 international volunteers in the UK every year. ICYE UK is seeking a motivated Treasurer to join the Board as an observer in the interim and then as Trustee Treasurer at the AGM in November 2026, enabling a smooth handover.

  • Hold the wider responsibilities and accountabilities as a Trustee of the charity.

  • Be able to fulfil the role above in collaboration with others on the board.

  • Be prepared, at least once a year, to attend training camps for volunteers in Brentwood, Essex and assist staff in running the camp.

What’s in it for you?

Trusteeship is a challenging and rewarding way to volunteer your time and skills to an organisation. You will build on your strengths and expand your skillset while working with a dedicated and passionate team committed to delivering volunteering opportunities for young people around the world. You will help support ICYE UK’s mission to build peace and understanding across cultures through volunteering on the board. You may also meet some of the volunteers ICYE UK supports to see the impact of the organisation.

A few more details

ICYE UK is a small charity, which means Trustees balance strategic oversight and accountability with hands-on involvement. As an observer (from November), you will be expected to attend monthly board meetings online via Google Meet and to chair meetings of the Finance and Human Resources Sub-Committee, which meets monthly for up to an hour online. There will be at least one Staff/Trustee away day and an AGM each year, which you will be required to attend in person, but events are organised to suit Trustees’ availability.
