Ecommerce Manager in Crawley

Crawley Full-Time On-site
I

eCommerce Manager (eCommerce Trading) B2C - £30-45,000 - Onsite (5 days, Crawley)

Introduction

Our client is a family-owned specialist retailer and one of the UK’s best-known names in its sector. It has a large and growing store estate across England, its own ranges of products, and a loyal customer base built on expert advice and premium quality. The ecommerce team is small and close-knit, and the business now wants to make its websites perform as well as its stores.

This is a new chance to bring real ecommerce rigour to a well-loved brand. The site already looks great. Your job is to make it convert, grow basket size and drive the next phase of online growth. You will report directly to the Director, with plenty of room to spot opportunities, bring ideas and see them through.

Location and working pattern

Head office near Crawley, West Sussex (close to Three Bridges), with on-site parking. This role is office-based five days a week, working side by side with the rest of the ecommerce team. It is an easy commute from Horsham, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, Redhill and the Brighton area.

  • Own ecommerce performance across conversion rate, revenue, average order value and customer experience.
  • Analyse the sales funnel and customer behaviour to find friction points and opportunities, and build and maintain the ecommerce improvement roadmap.
  • Run a structured CRO and testing programme across product pages, category pages, navigation, search, basket and checkout. Form hypotheses, test them and measure the results.
  • Lead on-site trading: cross-sell, upsell, bundling, merchandising and promotions. Make sure discount codes and checkout work properly.
  • Act as the internal owner of the ecommerce platform and its integrations. Write development briefs, manage builds and enhancements with external developers, run UAT and maintain the backlog.
  • Improve the end-to-end customer journey on desktop and mobile, turning customer service feedback and behavioural data into fixes.
  • Work with Marketing to grow organic traffic and help shape a loyalty proposition for online customers.
  • Manage and develop an Ecommerce Executive.

Experience and competencies required

  • 2-3 years eCommerce experience from any category and background and lives in Crawley.
  • Five or more years in transactional ecommerce. You might be a strong Executive or Senior Executive ready to step up, or a recently promoted manager looking for a bigger challenge.
  • A proven track record of growing website sales through conversion and customer journey improvements. You can show the numbers.
  • Hands‑on CRO and A/B testing experience, and comfort with web analytics (e.g. GA4) and ecommerce data.
  • Technical confidence with ecommerce CMS and platform administration, development briefs, testing and UAT, and checkout and promotion mechanics.
  • Commercially minded, but happy to switch from reviewing conversion data to investigating a checkout issue.
  • Strong project management skills. Line-management or mentoring experience is desirable.
  • Experience in any retail or consumer category is welcome. Pet sector knowledge is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • The right to work in the UK, and the ability to be in the Crawley office five days a week.
