Join to apply for the Vice President Finance role at Intelligent Internet. The Role We’re hiring a VP Finance for a crypto‑first role: running digital‑asset operations and treasury, shaping token economics and crypto/web3 financial mechanics, and leading fundraising with disclosure‑grade reporting. If you’re looking to apply deep tokenomics experience in a company that takes governance, controls, and long‑term value seriously, this is the seat. You’ll lead FP&A, controllership, treasury (fiat and digital assets), tax, and investor relations, and you’ll design controls and reporting that start lightweight and scale fast—across marketplace flows, token‑based mechanics, and the underlying business model. You’ll bring the judgment to move quickly without creating avoidable risk, and the discipline to build systems that hold up in diligence and audits. You’ll work closely with engineering and research teams building leading AI agents. AI finance experience isn’t required, but you should be genuinely excited about AI and comfortable operating in a deeply technical environment—using modern tools (including AI) to automate reporting, improve visibility into unit economics, and run high‑quality scenario modelling.
Scope: Lead finance across crypto/web3, corporate, employment, fundraising, data, and IP, within a crypto x AI startup. Objective: Build and run lightweight, automation‑first finance systems that keep velocity high and risk low—while making crypto operations and reporting institutional‑grade.
The Responsibilities
- Finance Strategy → Business Outcomes: Translate company strategy into quarterly finance plans with clear owners, SLAs, and decision rights. Track runway, time‑to‑decision, and control maturity, ensuring Finance actively enables execution rather than slowing it down.
- FP&A and Business Partnering: Own budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning. Instrument real‑time unit economics (CAC/LTV, payback, gross margin by product and workload, cost‑to‑serve, compute and other unit costs). Target forecast accuracy of ±5–10% on revenue and cash, and act as a hands‑on partner to product, engineering, and GTM leaders.
- Treasury (Fiat + Digital Assets): Design and operate a secure, policy‑driven treasury with appropriate segregation of duties, custody, and monitoring. Manage liquidity, hedging, and yield within strict risk limits. Deliver transparent on‑chain and off‑chain reconciliations and reporting. Advise on compliant value mechanisms where proof of public benefit mints value. Build disclosures, controls, and reporting suitable for UK, EU, and US, and priority markets. Partner closely with Legal and Compliance to ensure robustness as regulations evolve.
- Controllership & Reporting: Own monthly close, consolidations, technical accounting, and audits. Target a day‑5 close, zero material weaknesses, clean audit opinions, and a searchable, reliable source of truth for financial data.
- Tax & Global Expansion: Manage corporate tax, VAT/GST, transfer pricing, and employment tax across jurisdictions. Design scalable processes that enable the company to add new countries quickly, compliantly, and with minimal operational friction.
- Investor Relations & Capital Strategy: Own board and investor materials, metrics, and narrative. Support equity and token‑adjacent financing where appropriate. Maintain a disciplined cap table and incentive design aligned to long‑term value creation.
- AI‑First Finance Operations: Deploy AI across close, reconciliations, anomaly detection, forecasting, and narrative generation. Publish simple, trusted dashboards and clearly explain the “why” behind the numbers without creating noise or unease.
- Risk, Governance & Cross‑Functional Enablement: Support leadership in identifying and managing financial and operational risks without introducing unnecessary process or drag.
- Finance Systems, Data & Decision Infrastructure: Own the evolution of finance systems and data flows in partnership with Engineering and Data. Ensure financial data is accurate, auditable, and accessible, integrating seamlessly with product, analytics, and reporting platforms to support fast, confident decision‑making.
The Requirements
You are pragmatic, data‑driven, and human‑first, looking to align finance strategy tightly to mission and successful business outcomes. You are passionate about AI, use it every day and coach team‑wide adoption (forecasting, anomaly detection, close automation), while sweating the details to run compliant, audit‑ready best‑in‑class operations.
Must Have:
- 12+ years in Finance with meaningful in‑house leadership (VP/Head/Director), start‑up to scale‑up experience.
- Built finance functions for crypto/web3 businesses and have experience in deep‑tech/ AI (ideally); trusted by product and engineering.
- Owned company‑level planning (OKRs ↔ budgets), board reporting, multi‑entity consolidations, and audits.
- Implemented ERP + billing + data stack (e.g., NetSuite/Sage, Stripe/crypto rails, data warehouse) with measurable cycle‑time and accuracy gains.
- Managed fiat and digital‑asset treasury, custody policies, and on‑/off‑ramp controls; designed token‑adjacent economics with clear disclosures.
- Shipped revenue recognition for hybrid models (IFRS 15/ASC 606), crypto accounting under IFRS/UK GAAP/US GAAP, and multi‑country tax.
- Supported fundraising and investor relations; modeled scenarios and capital strategy; maintained a clean compliance/audit record.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in open source technology, AI, or compute‑intensive businesses, with a strong grasp of usage‑based economics, GPU/compute cost structures, and margin dynamics across training and inference.
- Proven ability to build AI‑enabled finance workflows, including automated close, anomaly detection, forecasting, and narrative generation using modern AI tooling.
- Strong systems and data mindset, with experience partnering closely with Engineering and Data to design finance systems, data models, and decision infrastructure.
The Right Person:
Thrives in fast‑paced and high‑growth companies. Pragmatic, business‑oriented, and comfortable prioritising. You aim high, embrace challenge, and always do what’s right. Strong on systems and guardrails, not interested in micromanaging product. Passionate about using AI tools in your own workflow and able to champion adoption across the org. Trusted by technical, research, ops and exec teams especially; communicates clearly in all scenarios. Comfortable in ambiguity and fast‑moving environments. Tech‑savvy, human first and eager to learn new technology and practices. Ability to work individually and collaboratively within a team environment. A clear and thoughtful communicator. Ability to contribute to building new processes and systems. Detail‑oriented, intentional, and analytical with exceptional critical thinking/reasoning skills. Curious, tenacious, willing to learn, and keen to grow.
