IntelliAM builds intelligent software that helps industrial organisations understand, prioritise, and act on asset health and reliability data. We operate at the intersection of AI, industrial systems, and modern product design. As our product surface area grows, we are investing in robust design systems that enable teams to deliver new features efficiently, consistently, and with confidence.
The Role
We’re looking for a Design Systems Lead / Senior Product Designer to own and evolve IntelliAM’s design system across design and implementation. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant influence, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership to establish the foundations that enable teams to move quickly with consistency. In addition to system ownership, you’ll shape design direction, partnering with Product and Leadership to turn insight, research, and data into clear design decisions and high-quality product experiences. You’ll ensure design intent, quality, and coherence are maintained from concept through to delivery. You’ll define and scale a shared design language through reusable components, clear patterns, and strong alignment between design and code.
What You’ll Do
- Own the design, build, and ongoing evolution of IntelliAM’s design system
- Partner with Product and Leadership to define and defend design direction, turning insight and evidence into clear design outcomes
- Work closely with engineers to ensure design intent is represented in implementation
- Establish and maintain standards for accessibility, responsiveness, and theming
- Create clear, practical documentation and usage guidelines that support consistent design application
- Reduce design and decision overhead by promoting reuse, consistency, and strong defaults
- Evolve the design system as the product, team, and organisation scale
Experience & Background
- Proven experience designing and evolving SaaS or data-rich products, beyond static or brochure-style experiences
- Proven experience designing, building, and scaling a design system within a product-led organisation
- Advanced expertise in Figma, with evidenced experience using components, variants, and variables to design, structure, and evolve a production-grade design system
- Strong understanding of modern front-end development principles, including component-based architectures (e.g. React)
- Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with engineers on shared component models and workflows
- Comfortable working in complex, data-rich product environments, balancing clarity with flexibility
- Strong grounding in human-centred design principles and evidence-led design decision-making
- Experience defining design standards and influencing adoption across teams
- Ability to articulate, defend, and evolve design decisions with clarity and confidence
Nice to Have
- Experience contributing to or implementing a coded design system in production
- Familiarity with Storybook, Tailwind, design tokens, or token-based theming approaches
- Experience designing for B2B, industrial, or technically complex products
- Experience planning and undertaking research activities to inform design decisions and validate solutions
- Experience applying AI-assisted workflows within design system processes to accelerate iteration, improve consistency, and reduce design overhead
Why this Role Matters
This role has a direct impact on how efficiently IntelliAM can deliver high-quality products and features. By establishing scalable design foundations, you will enable faster delivery, reduce rework and support long-term product growth.
What you’ll get
- 5 weeks paid annual leave, plus UK bank holidays
- Tax efficient stock options (subject to scheme rules and eligibility)
- Workplace pension with employer contributions, in line with UK auto-enrolment legislation (subject to eligibility and scheme terms)
- Salary Sacrifice EV Scheme (subject to eligibility)
- Training and professional development opportunities
This is a full-time role. Due to the collaborative nature of the work, and the importance of close alignment with engineering and product teams, regular in-person attendance is required. The team works from our Sheffield City Centre Office at least 2 days per week for planning, collaboration, and team development. We recognise the importance of flexibility and are open to discussing reasonable flexible working arrangements in line with business needs.
