Our client is a growing RF and microwave technology business based in Sedgefield, developing advanced products for demanding space, defence and communications applications.

They are looking for an experienced Senior MMIC Design Engineer to work on high-frequency devices operating from 37GHz to 115GHz and beyond.

The work is technically challenging, commercially relevant and supported by strong internal RF, microwave, systems and test capability.

As a Senior MMIC Design Engineer, you will take ownership of MMIC development from initial architecture and circuit design through to fabrication, testing and production release.

Your work will include: Designing and laying out MMICs using Ga As, Ga N and In P technologies Developing LNAs, power amplifiers, gain blocks, frequency converters, attenuators and multipliers Selecting suitable semiconductor processes for new products Completing circuit simulation, optimisation and design verification Working directly with semiconductor foundries throughout fabrication Supporting thermal analysis, reliability assessments and device validation Producing test specifications and characterising devices using RF probe stations and laboratory equipment Contributing to technical reviews and supporting less experienced engineers What they are looking for Our client is looking for someone with strong commercial MMIC design experience and a track record of taking devices from concept through fabrication and verification.

You should have: Industrial experience designing MMICs within a semiconductor environment Strong experience with RF amplifiers, LNAs or frequency-conversion circuits Experience using Ga As and/or Ga N HEMT technologies Hands-on RF measurement and device characterisation capability A good understanding of microwave and millimetre-wave communication systems Experience with WIN Semiconductor processes, products above 37GHz or mentoring other engineers would be useful, but is not essential.

Why consider it?

This Senior MMIC Design Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on genuine millimetre-wave products used in next-generation space, defence and communication systems.

The role is based in Sedgefield, County Durham, with hybrid working available.

You will have technical ownership, access to well-equipped RF laboratories and the opportunity to influence both product development and future technology direction.

The package includes a competitive salary, 25 days’ holiday, pension contributions of up to 8%, life assurance, income protection, an employee share scheme and ongoing professional development.
