A Sustainability Engineer is required to join an established medical and optical instrumentation business supporting the ongoing development and lifecycle of complex electronic products. The Sustainability Engineer will focus on maintaining, improving and extending existing hardware platforms while working closely with manufacturing, quality and design teams. This role offers hands‑on technical responsibility within a regulated, product‑led environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support existing electronic products through their full lifecycle, from production through to end‑of‑life
  • Investigate and resolve hardware issues arising from manufacturing, suppliers or the field
  • Manage component obsolescence, second sourcing and design changes
  • Implement engineering changes, including schematic updates, PCB revisions and BOM modifications
  • Support compliance, verification and documentation updates for regulated products
  • Work with suppliers, manufacturers and internal stakeholders to ensure product continuity

Requirements

  • Background in electronic hardware engineering or sustainability engineering
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB design or design modifications
  • Familiarity with component lifecycle management and obsolescence mitigation
  • Practical fault‑finding and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work within regulated or quality‑driven environments
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
