This is a principal individual contributor role, not a people-management position, though there is potential to take on managerial responsibility as the business grows. You'll bring deep knowledge of digital and power electronics and a strong grasp of satellite electronics architecture, and you'll drive requirements down into subsystem development. Working closely with mechanical, software, systems and other disciplines, you'll make sure the electronics team is joined up with the rest of the programme in real time. When things go wrong, you'll be the one the team turns to for problem-solving.
Key responsibilities
Define and own electronics architecture at satellite level, including architectural layout
Flow requirements down into subsystem developments and keep them traceable
Provide hands-on design input and technical review across digital and power electronics
Act as the link between the electronics team and other engineering disciplines
Lead problem-solving and root-cause analysis when issues arise in development or test
Support and mentor colleagues through reviews and technical guidance
Essential requirements
Significant experience in spacecraft or other high-reliability electronics development
Strong understanding of both digital and power electronics
Experience in satellite or complex systems-level electronics architecture
Proven ability to derive and manage requirements at subsystem level
Hands-on engineering background combined with the ability to review others' work
Excellent English communication skills, as the role involves real-time liaison across teams
Right to work in the UK and ability to meet export control requirements
Desirable requirements
FPGA design experience
Experience working across multiple sites or product lines
Previous exposure to defence-related programmes
Experience mentoring or technically leading engineers
