Overview
As a Software Engineer you will develop and optimise real-time embedded software for 5G NR PHY platforms, collaborating with PHY, hardware and system teams. You will focus on high-performance C/C++ code, embedded Linux, and software acceleration techniques to meet real-time constraints. You will work at the intersection of software and hardware, enabling efficient PHY algorithms and system integration. This role offers hands-on impact on cutting-edge 5G and NTN technology, with hybrid working in Southampton.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise software for real-time embedded platforms under performance constraints
- Collaborate with PHY algorithms, hardware and system teams to deliver performant solutions
- Support integration of software with ARM-based embedded platforms
- Contribute to platform and infrastructure software underpinning 5G NR PHY systems
- Work across C/C++, embedded Linux, and hardware acceleration techniques
Key requirements
- Strong experience in C or C++ for performance-critical systems
- Experience with real-time embedded systems and/or Embedded Linux
- Solid understanding of software optimisation (SIMD, multithreading, hardware acceleration)
- Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) for automation/testing
- Experience integrating software with ARM-based embedded platforms
- Exposure to 5G NR, signal processing, O-RAN or related wireless tech (beneficial)
