Our client is a major UK defence and security technology business working across advanced communications, RF systems, cyber and intelligence programmes.
They are looking for a Communications Systems Engineer to support the design, integration and optimisation of SDR-based communication systems used in complex mission environments.
This role is focused on the system-level design of software-defined radio systems, with work covering architectures, interfaces, protocols, encoding schemes, network topologies and link budgets.
It would suit someone who understands how communication systems fit together across hardware, software, RF and wider mission system environments.
As a Communications Systems Engineer, you will be involved in defining and improving SDR system architectures, supporting protocol and interface development, modelling network performance, and helping to integrate communication systems into larger platforms.
The work will also include testing, validation and ensuring systems meet the required performance, interoperability and operational standards.
They are looking for someone with strong experience in SDR system architecture, communication protocols, network design, link budgets and system integration.
Knowledge of areas such as TCP/IP, IEEE 802 standards, cellular network standards, forward error correction, network modelling or system design tools would be highly relevant.
Experience with Open CPI, GNU Radio, Python, C/C++, Linux, Git Lab, real-time communications, network management tools or defence/cyber communications systems would also be useful.
This is a good opportunity for a Communications Systems Engineer who wants to work on technically interesting SDR and communications systems, with exposure to RF, software, network modelling and wider mission system integration.
This role is based in Gloucester and requires DV clearance.
Salary is £72,500 to £90,000, plus benefits and bonus.
