A growing semiconductor technology company developing next-generation RF solutions for mobile and connected devices is seeking a Senior RF Test Engineer to join their development team in Cambridge. This organisation is focused on simplifying RF front-end architectures and enabling more efficient global connectivity across a wide range of wireless products. Their engineering team works on cutting-edge RF technology, collaborating closely across RF design, systems, and validation disciplines to deliver high-performance, manufacturable products.
The company is now looking to appoint a Senior RF Test Engineer who will take ownership of RF measurement, characterisation, and validation activities across advanced RF modules and systems.
The role involves:
- Validating RF performance and ensuring strong correlation between simulation, design expectations, and measured hardware results.
- Leading measurement activities, developing robust test methodologies, and helping drive best practices across RF characterisation and validation.
- Solving complex RF measurement challenges and improving the efficiency and repeatability of RF test infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading RF characterisation and validation activities across RF modules and systems.
- Designing and maintaining robust, repeatable RF test setups for product evaluation.
- Performing and analysing 3GPP-aligned RF measurements (LTE and/or NR).
- Providing measurement-driven feedback to RF design and systems teams.
- Developing automated RF test frameworks and measurement scripts (Python, MATLAB or similar).
- Improving RF measurement methodologies, lab practices, and documentation standards.
- Troubleshooting complex RF test setups and hardware issues during development.
- Supporting design reviews with measurement insights and performance analysis.
- Maintaining RF lab infrastructure including equipment calibration and measurement workflows.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline.
- Strong practical experience in RF testing, characterisation, and validation.
- Experience performing RF measurements for cellular systems (LTE and/or NR).
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including S-parameters, impedance matching, gain, noise figure, and linearity.
- Hands-on experience using RF lab equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analysers, and signal generators.
- Experience developing automated test setups and measurement scripts.
- Ability to interpret RF schematics, debug hardware, and analyse RF system behaviour.
- Experience maintaining RF lab environments and test infrastructure.
- Previous experience leading measurement activities or mentoring engineers would be beneficial.
