We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to take a leading role in the design, architecture and delivery of complex software-enabled systems. This position is ideal for an engineer looking to expand beyond hands-on development into systems architecture, technical leadership and multidisciplinary problem solving, while remaining closely involved in embedded software engineering.
You will work alongside software, electronics, systems and mechanical engineers to develop innovative products across a variety of industries and technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop embedded software and firmware for complex embedded devices and physical products
- Define software and system architectures for connected and embedded systems
- Lead technical delivery across software, electronics and systems engineering teams
- Solve integration, performance and reliability challenges across complex systems
- Work closely with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to define technical solutions
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical decision-making and best practices
- Support the development of innovative technologies across a range of sectors and applications
Requirements:
Essential:
- Degree (2:1 or above) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related subject
- Commercial experience developing embedded software, firmware or device software
- Experience working on complex embedded systems or hardware-based products
- Strong understanding of systems architecture, integration and software design
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Desirable:
- Cloud-connected systems experience
- Cyber security knowledge
- Application software development experience
- AI/ML exposure
- Experience working within regulated environments
- Previous technical leadership or mentoring responsibilities
