Systems & Technical Specialist – Leading Charity (London | Hybrid | Permanent)

Location: London (Hybrid – up to 3 days WFH)

Contract: Permanent

I’m recruiting on behalf of a well-known charity that’s strengthening its digital and data ecosystem as part of a major multi-year transformation. They’re now looking for a Systems & Technical Specialist to join their Digital & Data function.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing, building and maintaining systems, working end-to-end across data flows, CRM components, automation, and internal applications, with integration experience highly desirable.

🌟 The Role

This position sits at the heart of the charity’s technical operations. You’ll work on systems that support fundraising, supporter engagement, service delivery, and internal operations.

Key Focus Areas

• System design & build: Develop new internal tools, components, and solutions that support the charity’s operational and fundraising needs.
• Transactional data handling: Work with high-volume supporter, financial, and engagement data, ensuring accuracy, integrity and efficient processing.
• Data flows & system connectivity: Support how different platforms exchange data; build integrations and automation routes (API or file-based).
• Continuous improvement: Review existing systems and identify improvements in performance, design, and maintainability.
• CRM ecosystem enhancements: Support customisations, extensions and improvements to the organisation’s CRM platform.
• Technical support: Provide 2nd/3rd line expertise on system behaviour, data issues, performance and underlying logic.
• Strong SQL Server experience (T-SQL, schema design, stored procedures, performance basics)
• Experience designing or building technical solutions from scratch
• Experience with JSON and APIs
• Exposure to transactional data or high-volume data movement
• Ability to work independently on system design and technical problem solving
• Experience documenting solutions and following structured development practices
• Experience integrating with 3rd-party systems (APIs, data files, automation jobs)
• SSIS or similar orchestration experience
• CRM platform experience (any CRM; Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge a bonus)
• PowerShell / Python scripting
• Experience in a charity or fundraising environment
• Azure or other cloud platforms
