Software Engineer | £40k to £60k + Equity |
An early stage, well funded AI startup is transforming one of the most outdated and mission critical industries in the economy.
It is a £64B market still relying on manual checks, PDFs and spreadsheets.
The team is building AI native agentic systems that compress certification and audit timelines from months to days.
They are using modern workflows, LLM powered automation and strong engineering practices. After closing an oversubscribed pre seed round, they are now looking for a Junior Full Stack Engineer to join the founding team in Scotland.
Why this role stands out:
This is not a typical junior position.
You will work directly with two experienced technical founders who have deployed enterprise AI systems across many industries.
You will:
Ship production features in your first week
Make meaningful architectural decisions early
Be involved in designing the company\’s core AI systems
Build for real customers with real world workflows
Learn how to create AI systems from first principles rather than only wiring APIs together
If you enjoy being challenged and want rapid growth, responsibility and exposure, this role gives you exactly that from day one.
What you will work on
You will contribute across the stack, including:
- Building and shipping high velocity full stack features using Python, TypeScript and React
- Designing backend systems that integrate with LLM driven workflows and agentic pipelines
- Turning messy human knowledge into structured, self improving AI behaviours
- Working directly with early design partners to understand how they work and to ship solutions they will actually adopt
- Using LLM coding tools as genuine development partners for reasoning, scaffolding and accelerating your work
Everything you build will have a direct impact on the product and on customers.
Who they are looking for:
- An early career engineer with less than two years of experience
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals, ideally from a strong university or equivalent depth
- A first principles thinker who enjoys solving difficult problems and is not tied to a single language
- Someone already comfortable using LLM tools in their workflow
- A high output builder who enjoys fast paced startup environments
- Someone who values ownership, learning and working closely with technical founders
Tech stack
- Languages: Python, TypeScript
- Front end: React
- Cloud: AWS
- AI: LLM tools, agentic systems, workflow automation
- Approach: First principles, rapid iteration, strong fundamentals
What you will get
- £40k to £60k salary based on experience
- Meaningful equity from the ground floor
- A rare chance to learn directly from seasoned technical founders
- The opportunity to build real AI systems that solve real problems
- Responsibility and ownership far beyond a typical junior role
- A fast moving environment where you can grow faster than almost anywhere else
