We’re a seed-stage technology startup tackling a long-overlooked problem in residential property management: inefficient appliance procurement and lifecycle management. Poor data and fragmented processes lead to unnecessary costs, wasted time, and higher carbon emissions.

Our platform brings intelligence, transparency, and optimisation to appliance management at scale. We’ve proven early product-market fit and are now entering an exciting growth phase.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join at a pivotal moment. This role is ideal for someone operating at a strong mid-to-senior level who wants real ownership, influence over technical direction, and a clear path into leadership. There is genuine potential to progress into a Head of Technology role based on performance.

You’ll work closely with product leadership and be supported by a Fractional CTO, playing a key role in building, scaling, and evolving the platform, with a strong focus on AI and LLM-driven features.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing, building, and deploying high-quality features for a customer-facing web platform
  • Developing and shipping AI and LLM-powered functionality
  • Managing third-party integrations including payments, email, SMS, suppliers, and partner APIs
  • Collaborating with product and leadership to design scalable and reliable systems
  • Participating in code reviews and raising engineering standards
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and security
  • Mentoring and supporting a junior developer through guidance and pair programming

Tech Stack

  • Backend: Python, Django
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, HTMX
  • Hosting & Deployment: Heroku, GitHub Actions

About You

This role is a great fit if you enjoy early-stage environments where your decisions have real impact and you want to grow into a technical leadership role.

You must have:

  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience
  • Strong experience building and maintaining web applications using Python and Django
  • Hands-on experience integrating large language models via APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic
  • Experience with relational database design, optimisation, and performance
  • Practical experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases
  • Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms, ideally Heroku and AWS
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • An interest in mentoring junior developers
  • Be based in London and able to work hybrid, minimum three days per week in South London
  • Legal right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)

Nice to have:

  • Deeper AI or ML engineering experience, including deploying models into production
  • Broader front-end experience or familiarity with modern frameworks such as React, HTMX, or TailwindCSS

What’s On Offer

  • Salary of £65,000–£90,000 depending on experience
  • Equity options
  • Clear progression into senior technical leadership
  • Flexible working with a collaborative in-office culture
  • South West London office with onsite gym and pool

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Intellect Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
