We’re working with a fast-growing London-based fintech lender who are hiring an urgent Financial Controller to join their growing finance function. The business supports UK SMEs through innovative lending and cash-flow management products and has recently secured significant Series A funding. They are now entering a key scaling phase and are looking for a hands-on finance professional who can take ownership across reporting, controls, operations and process improvement.

This is a strong opportunity for a qualified accountant who wants broader responsibility in a fast-moving fintech environment, working closely with senior leadership and helping build the finance function as the business continues to scale.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and financial statements
  • Support the annual audit process and work with external auditors
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
  • Support cash-flow and working-capital oversight
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations
  • Identify and implement improvements across finance processes, systems and reporting
  • Work closely with non-finance stakeholders, providing clear and timely financial information
Requirements
  • ACCA qualified as a minimum, ACA also considered
  • 3–5 years’ experience from Big 4, banking or fintech
  • Strong financial reporting and management accounts experience
  • Good understanding of UK accounting standards
  • Experience across controls, audit support and finance operations
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • Confident communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Proactive, hands-on and ownership-driven mindset
Nice to have
  • Lending or fintech experience
  • Financial modelling experience
  • Startup or scale-up experience

Location: Holborn, London
Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days per week in office
