An established and growing MEP consultancy is seeking an Experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the continued expansion of its in-house electrical design capability. This is a key hire, offering autonomy, technical ownership, and the opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of the electrical design function.
The Role
- Deliver high-quality electrical building services designs across a range of projects
- Undertake site surveys and technical assessments, primarily within the London area
- Produce detailed electrical designs including LV/HV distribution and power systems
- Design and specify systems such as panel boards, transformers, ATS, UPS, and standby generators
- Develop designs for 3-phase power distribution (up to 400A)
- Design and coordinate fire alarm, security, and access control systems
- Provide in-house electrical design solutions and technical support to clients
- Work independently while collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders
- Support the growth and development of the electrical design team as the business expands
About You
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within an MEP / Building Services environment
- Strong background in LV/HV electrical distribution and building services design
- Experience carrying out site surveys and condition assessments
- Solid understanding of 3-phase power systems, panel boards, transformers, ATS, UPS, and generators
- Experience designing fire alarm and security/access control systems
- Qualified Electrical Engineer (degree or equivalent)
- Sound technical knowledge with the confidence to manage work autonomously
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of projects
- Experience producing surveys, reports, and client-facing design documentation
