Cyber Security Engineer – Birmingham – £45,000–£55,000
We’re working with a growing technology-driven business in Birmingham who are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join their team. You’ll be involved in designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls that protect business-critical systems across cloud and on-premise environments.
What you’ll be doing:
- Configuring, managing, and optimising security technologies including firewalls, EDR, and SIEM platforms
- Supporting cloud security across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
- Performing vulnerability assessments, patch management, and remediation activities
- Assisting with incident response and security investigations
- Working closely with IT and development teams to ensure security best practices are embedded
- Contributing to security policy, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+)
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a hands-on cyber security engineering role, ideally with both on-premise and cloud security exposure
- Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, or similar), and Microsoft 365 security
- Experience with SIEM and EDR tools
- Understanding of vulnerability management processes and security frameworks
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Security Operations, CCNA Security) are an advantage
