Overview
An established Managed Service Provider is expanding its cloud and hybrid capability and is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in delivering cloud-first, hybrid infrastructure solutions across its client base.
This role combines advanced 3rd-line engineering, cloud project delivery, and client-facing consultancy, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure and supporting exposure to AWS. You’ll work across varied client environments, leading cloud migrations, improving infrastructure resilience, and supporting modern, scalable platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and support cloud-first and hybrid infrastructure solutions, primarily in Microsoft Azure with supporting AWS environments.
- Deliver on-prem to cloud migration projects, including Azure and AWS workload transitions and hybrid architectures.
- Act as a 3rd-line escalation point for complex cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security issues.
- Build, manage, and optimise Azure services (VMs, Azure AD / Entra ID, Storage, Backup, networking, security).
- Support AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, and core networking.
- Maintain secure hybrid connectivity between cloud platforms and on-prem environments.
- Lead infrastructure and virtualisation projects (Hyper-V / VMware) aligned to cloud adoption strategies.
- Implement and support backup, disaster recovery, and security solutions across cloud and on-prem systems.
- Work directly with clients to gather requirements and deliver scalable, secure cloud solutions.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to improving cloud and infrastructure standards.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (VMs, Azure AD / Entra ID, Storage Accounts, Backup, networking, security).
- Practical experience supporting AWS environments (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, basic AWS networking).
- Experience working with hybrid cloud environments integrating on-prem and cloud services.
- Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
- Virtualisation using Hyper-V and/or VMware.
- Backup and DR solutions such as Veeam, Acronis, Cove, or similar.
Networking & Security
- Strong networking fundamentals: VLANs, subnetting, routing, switching, VPNs.
- Firewall experience with platforms such as Fortinet, WatchGuard, Palo Alto, or Juniper.
Background
- Experience within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment is highly desirable.
